This line has been on my bucket list for a while and I figured I might as well try and get some shots in before speeds are likely raised after trackwork is performed possibly this year. Luckily M427 didn't depart Ayer until close to 6am which gave me daylight for the whole chase, although that early in the morning its tough to get much nose light since the sun is still too far to the north. My favorite spot on the line was the scenic (albeit very overgrown) Wachusett Reservoir, seen here about 7:15am as M427 with CSXT 474 - CSXT 478 - CSXT 588 lead a small 24 car train west toward Worcester. This train would be much bigger once headed west on the B&A later in the afternoon, as they picked up a sizeable cut of traffic from Framingham at CP-46. |
