UP 1848 shoves the caboose train into the loop for boarding at the Depot Street platform
IRM's main depot, "East Union" (apparently named because IRM is east of the town of Union proper, it is actually toward the west end of the museum property) is visible to the right. It is the original Galena & Chicago Union R.R. Marengo depot from 1851. The G&CU became part of the C&NW, and the line now belongs to Union Pacific and runs parallel to and just north of IRM's line for freight service to Belvidere and Rockford.
