Great action shot of Canadian National 4-8-4 #6215 heading up a crack varnish train. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in August of 1942 (serial #69713), the loco lasted for only 19 years before being shoved off the roster by diesels and assigned to the scrapper's torch. The CN called this 4-8-4 wheel configuration a "Confederation" rather than the US designation as a "Northern". Specs - 73" drivers, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, 25.5x30" cylinders, engine weight of 400,300 lb and tractive effort of 56,786 lb. Dick George photo No location was given for the photo. |
