The Graysonia, Nashville & Ashdown Railroad linked the SLSF at Ashdown, Arkansas with the Missouri Pacific and Murfreesboro, Nashville & Southwestern at Nashville. GN&A 26 was built in September, 1926 (Baldwin serial 72826) and continued to serve the GN&A until the line converted to diesels in 1951. It then went to the Nebraska Kansas Railroad in Superior, NE. After that line sidetracked it in 1958, it was bought by W Calgren for display in Concordia, Kan in 1960. By 1973, the 26 had been moved to Union, IL, where it joined the Illinois Railroad Museum roster. Long-standing plans to repair the firebox remained unfunded. |
