PPCX 800073 DOVER HARBOR
Built by Pullman 1923 as the MAPLE SHADE for the Pennsylvania Railroad. The 80 ton car had a 28 foot baggage section, barber shop, library, and a 12 seat 4 section lounge. In 1934 Pullman rebuilt the car into the present configuration of 6 double bedrooms replacing the baggage section plus a buffet in place of the barbershop and library. The 12 seat lounge was retained but the name was changed to DOVER HARBOR. The heavyweight was retired by Pullman in 1967, sold into private ownership and eventually purchased by the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society in 1979. It presently seats 24 for day service and sleeps 10.
