| One of the more interesting pieces of non revenue equipment is this track geometry car I saw on a northbound M train recently. Where in the past, there might be a special train run that has cars fitted out with sensors that will detect and record various track conditions, now that is all done with the same equipment in a box car. Presumably, its connected to the internet, and is transmitting the information to the appropriate people, without having to run a special train. |
