Here is a good looking Frisco 2-8-0 Consolidation #1229 in its prime service during the late 1930's. Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in October of 1907 (serial #31962, it was one of the earliest class 1226 Consolidations to be scrapped - in June of 1946 at West Tulsa, OK. Specs - class 1226, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine weight of 207,000 lb, tractive effort of 43,300 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo |
