Parked in a scrap line is Frisco 2-8-0 #1232. Note it has already lost its headlight but the bell is still in place. Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in October of 1907, the loco remained on the Frisco diagram book through 3/1/1947 before disappearing - assumed scrapped not long after this photo was taken by Arthur B. Johnson. I would imagine this was the last photo ever taken of it. Specs - class 1226, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine weight of 207,000 lb, tractive effort of 43,300 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo. |
