Great photo of Frisco 2-8-0 #1245 in mid-life service. Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in October of 1907, it led a good life. The loco was rebuilt in 1930 with a new superheater and piston valves. Unfortunately after nearly 45 years of service, the loco was sold for scrap in January of 1952 like many in the class 1226. Specs - class 1226, oil burner, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine weight of 207,000 lb, tractive effort of 43,300 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo |
