Here is a photo via Forrest W. Trittenbach that was taken at the Roundhouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on 27 August 1949. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #973, a B-8A (0-6-0T) tank switcher built in Juniata as a B-8 (0-6-0) during 1905, later rebuilt as a B-8A (0-6-0T), and retired in April of 1953 after 48 years of faithful service. Note the three Railroaders atop the locomotive's cab roof, working on the turntable's electrical gear. Williams Collection. |
