Baera 1. Here is a photo by W.G. Fancher that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in 1949. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6421, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during July of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, it's pulling a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. (Track 1)
