Here is an image of a photo by Edward Kaspriske taken in Bay Head Junction, New Jersey, in 1956. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #830 and #612. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" steam locomotives built in Juniata. #830 was built in July of 1917 and retired in April of 1958. #612 was built in April of 1917, later equipped with a front-end throttle and reclassified as a K-4SA, and retired in April of 1958. Note the Hostler at the left, inspecting #830. Edward Kaspriske Collection. |
