Short trip, long wait  Contributor's Pick!
I heard a horn as we came back from lunch, and took off into town, expecting to chase a northbound. That guess was correct; what I didnt know was there was a southbound coal train holding the main. By the time I got it together, I had missed both trains at Siloam. I didnt want to be out too long, so went to Gentry to get the northbound. I got ahead, and climbed the embankment to the Ark 12 overpass, and waited...and waited...and waited. I figure either he was holding south of town to meet a southbound-KCS does this so not to block crossings-or he was picking up DPUs from the Flint Creek Spur. I was about to give up on the effort after about 30 minutes in 95 degrees, when I heard a horn to the south, and shortly after saw a column of smoke as the train pulled away from the spur, about a mile to the south. Here he is, four original units, and three picked up off the spur, with 115 empty oil cans.
