| Blackhawk. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred Byerly that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in February of 1970. Photo Caption: "DS 4-4-1000, Penn Central No. 7956. Philadelphia, Pa. Feb. 1970." Penn Central #7956 is a DS 4-4-1000 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as Pennsylvania Railroad number "5556" in February of 1950, rated at 1,000 horsepower, and renumbered "7956" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Baldwins in Action ~ On North-Eastern Railroads" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (892-14). |
