This unit received a turbo-charger at EMD in May 1959, boosting its horsepower from 1750 hp to 2000 hp. Some publications refer to units so converted as a GP9u.

Medicine Bow is still worth a visit ...Saw a rerouted Amtrak CZ go thru there in 2009...The Depot is still 'intact' -museum- and the Virginian Hotel is a cool old place to eat drink, and hang out....The turbo-modified GP-9's were also nicknamed "Omaha Geeps" I find GP-9B's addicting...Fine Shot
