Built by Baldwin in August of 1923 originally as IC 2-8-2 #1491, the Mikado was rebuilt and renumbered in March of 1942 to IC #1491. It was renumbered again in March of 1954 to IC #1696. After nearly 33 years of service, the loco was retired and scrapped in 1956. Rebult specs - 63 1/2" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine wt of 308,500 lb, tractive effort of 65,868 lb.
