Here is another Baldwin built 2-8-2, MILW #523, that was caught sitting in the scrap line at the Bensenville yard. Originally built in October of 1920 as MILW 8223, it was renumbered #523 in June of 1938. The loco was retired in February of 1954 after almost 34 years of service. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,600 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
