Sadly sitting in a scrap line at the Bensenville yard is MILW 2-8-2 #525. Originally built by Baldwin in October of 1920 as MILW 8225, it was later renumbered in June of 1938 as MILW 525 seen here. After nearly 33 years of service, it was retired in December of 1953 and eventually scrapped. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,600 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
