A few months from when this photo was taken, MILW #593 will be retired in September of 1953. Right now it has a head of steam and still able to serve. Originally built by Baldwin in January of 1921 as MILW 8293, the 2-8-2 Mikado type steam locomotive was renumbered in June of 1938 as MILW 593. The loco served the Milwaukee Road for nearly 52 years before being retired in September of 1953 and scrapped.Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,600 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb.
