Anderson. Here is the first of two successive original photos by an unidentified photographer that were taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 31 August 1954. Shown here across Burgoon Run is a 17-car Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train. Pulled by three diesel-electric locomotives built by GM-EMD, it's about to round the Curve on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Johnstown and points West. (#6 of 7) |
