| Nestled bewteen two grain silos is the former Monon depot at Francesville, IN. The depot was closed after passenger service to Michigan City ended in the late 1950's. Even the trackage was doomed when the expanded plan for coal from Kentucky to be shipped to ports in Michigan City was denied by the FCC. The depot was eventually razed in 1978. This is a John Fuller reprint. No date was given so based on similar photos online, this was around 1969. |
