| Extra Board. Here is an original photo that I took while serving with the U.S. Army in the Republic of South Viet Nam during February of 1971. Shown here is all that remains of a steam locomotive that was sabotaged in the war between the French and the Viet Minh (circa 1951): one section of boiler and two pairs of driving wheels! They're located about 20 miles south of Bong Son on Highway 1, which parallels the rail line for 600 miles between Saigon (to the left) and Da Nang (to the right). |
