Amtrak 9633  Contributor's Pick!
Amtrak cab car 9633 is on an inbound Amtrak train at Sinden, NJ 3/24/2024. The 9633 was originally built by Budd as an electric self propelled Metroliner MU car for the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1967-1970. The cars were never a success as EMUs and upon their retirement were rebuilt into cab cars. While the metroliners themselves failed as EMUs, the car design as a coach became the blteprint for the Amfleet coaches that has become the standard passenger car in the east, and the Northeast Corridor in particular. The Amfleet coaches are the last PRR!designed coaches on Amtrak.
