Definitely as sad moment in the life of this iron horse as it sits in the storage/scrap line in the Milwaukee yard awaiting the scrappers' torch. Built by Baldwin in September of 1922 as MILW #8314, it was later renumbered in June of 1938 to MILW 414 as seen here. After nearly 33 years of service, the loco met up with the scrapper's torch in December of 1955. Specs - class L-2b, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,770 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo.. |
