LMIX 124  Contributor's Pick!
LMIX 124 was the last car on a BNSF freight near Alpha, IL on 4-17-2011. This car has only an end door and the two doors at the other end, like other standard passenger cars, but there are no other doors I can see. Note the pair of vents between the air conditioner (?) and the first set of windows at the right. There are also two smallish fuel tanks, I suppose, and several boxes with cables at the very end. My guess is that this is an office or maybe office-dorm car but I don't know for sure. I haven't seen this car before or since.

Tom Beckett General Judging by the profile of the car, and the door on the other end, it looks like it was once a Long Island RR P 72 coach, though heavily modified. 8/24/2024 3:37:20 AM
Rev. Jonathan Spurlock General Thanks, Mr. Beckett, for the comment. I would never have guessed this car was based on a coach. Looking closer, though, I saw some plated over possible former window locations. Thanks again! 8/29/2024 1:29:56 AM
