Here is the second of two successive original photos by an unidentified photographer that were taken in Enola, Pennsylvania, on 5 May 1957. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4471, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during May of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in January of 1942, and retired in April of 1958 after 35 years of faithful service. Note the Fireman on the tender's deck, replenishing the reservoir. "Fill 'er up, Mack!" The names of the five Railroaders pictured here are not recorded. ("Ballest"; #3 of 4) |
