CRI&P's #1 in LaSalle Street Station  Contributor's Pick!
Day approximate, month and year correct. The tall building is the Board of Trade and the darker closer building is the long-gone headhouse replaced by the new Board of Trade Buildng. J. C. Smith, Jr. sent th follhwing comment: "The locomotive is the same design created for General Motor's Aerotrain, but this particular trainset is an ACF-built Talgo, originally called the Jet Rocket. This particular model LWT-1 differs from the two sister locomotives, Rock Island numbers 2 and 3, acquired with the two actual Aerotrains, in that it had a Blomberg front truck, whereas the other two featured a four-wheel Flexi-Coil, similar to those used under some EMD switchers intended for some road service use."

Kurt Clark General Awesome shot! 2/17/2007 10:37:07 AM
Stu Slaymaker General Most certainly in suburban service at that late date. Reportedly held down Trains 214-221 aka "The Bankers." 4/6/2011 1:26:19 AM
Chris Lubinski General Nice piece of history, Marty! 12/28/2011 9:58:22 AM
L Beckman General I rode this train once in commuter service. Horrible ride! Especially going over switches. Yes, I remember that they were used on the Bankers, but that didn't last long. That was the "Premium Service" commuter train and those regular riders complaints soon had the trains taken off and assigned to other off-peak runs. Les 1/31/2012 10:35:06 PM
