Rock Island Line
This is outside Gerald, MO. This is were the old Rock Island crossed US 50 in Missouri. The Signal box reads Central Midland Rwy. Kind funny since no train of the CMR ever ran out this way. Belive it or not, the Crossing IS Functional, even though the last train to pass over was in Feb. of 1980

Pat Scott General 1980? Southern Pacific went over this crossing many, many times until the mid 1990s. 5/7/2007 11:02:10 AM
David Sanderbeck General 1980? I recall seeing many SP train on this line in the 1980's and early 1990's. By the way Jim, the Rock quit in March of 1980 not Feb 1980. BUT "If you think its right, then its what you know, it does not have to be accurate." 5/12/2007 7:14:25 PM
Zach Pumphery General That d*mn signal cabinet is way newer than 1980. 7/15/2007 5:34:22 AM
Jim Dodds General That's interesting. The fact that it says "Central Midland Railway" on the side brings hope that maybe someday they will restore service on more of the line, though that seems highly unlikely :) today their operations end at Union :( 11/22/2009 12:35:35 AM
Jim Dodds General And this crossing was used sometimes as late as the 1990s, as a local served Jeffriesburg for a while... 11/22/2009 12:37:03 AM
