| The passenger train tracks from Union Station go through the tunnel under First Street right behind the Capitol at the left. The freight tracks make a much wider swing behind the Capitol and to the north never needing a tunnel. The catenary is for the PRR electric freight locomotives so they can make it to the Potomac Yards and does not go through the tunnel. Pantographs would not fit.
