This is a MKT car transferred to the CGW transferred to the KCS and donated to the Smokey Hill Railroad club. It was stripped of its mail fittings in Pittsburg and was never in service on the KCS. DST bought the car from Smokey Hill and had it transported to Mid America Car & Locomotive in KC for external restoration for display on the turntable at the former KCT Roundhouse in KC.

I believe this car was never on CGW rails. It was renumbered and lettered at Parsons,Kans. at the MKT shops and moved to the KCS at Pittsburg, Kans. It was never lettered or numbered for the KCS. KCS RPO cars were numbered 30-39,60-69 and 70-73 (60-69 were renumbered 30-39 when they received roller bearings and Tightlock couplers). Cars 70-73 were 80' lightweight streamline Dorm-RPO-Baggage cars.
