Not a former VIA car. It was painted as VIA (I believe for a movie shoot) while owned by Denver Railcar. Built in 1947 by Budd in Lot #9613-004 as NYC 56 seat chair #2944 (1 of 60 such cars, #2900-#2959), later PC #2944, to Amtrak in 1974 as #5663. Retired and sold to Denver Railcar as DRCX #5663. Denver Railcar planned to name this car the SILVER PALM, this planned name was later shortened to PALM, but was not applied. Also was intended as #800549. Morristown & Erie later acquired several of these NYC 56 seat chairs from Denver Railcar, and the #5663 was renumbered to ME #1009.
