CR 6010 takes NY74 south Editors Pick! Contributor's Pick!
Patched Penn Central SD35 and SD40 with the daily merchandise NY-74 -- a holdover from Erie Lackawanna days, this was a Chicago to New York run that is here less than 30 minutes away from the end of its long journey to Croxton Yard. SD35 6010 was a Pennsylvania Railroad unit (called an EF25a there) delivered in 1965. CR's SD35s didn't fair well and were mostly gone by 1985.

Howard Castellucio General In the fleeting moment of Conrails history, I'm glad to thoes that captured these immages. 9/10/2007 10:32:51 AM
Ken Roble General I think that the goverment should have liquidated the Penn Central and let the other roads like the EL, RDG and LV just to name a few take the pieces of the PC carcase that they wanted and let the goverment bail out the roads that the PC caused to belly up instead of consolidating the whole bit. 11/21/2007 6:49:56 PM
Ron Moraca General The SD35's from the various freight railroads that Conrail took over in 1971 had already covered a top of miles for their predecessor owners, Charles, so it's not surprising that they were underperformers for Conrail, especially those from the PC. 5/17/2009 4:27:13 PM
David Nutter General Amazing shot! 10/28/2010 12:20:46 PM
