You guys are both kind of right. It is the dock where they use to load rail ferrys with ore cars. I always wondered why they did it this way. It would have seemed better to build a chutedock to load freighters, or simply train the ore to Escanaba.

Not an ore dock nore where they regularly loaded ore cars on to ferries. This is a carferry dock for the AA ferry where they happened to load ore in the winters of 1965-66 only. this was to keep a steady stream of are going to Ford in the winter(rather than stock pileing it).
