Mike Toney General I volunteered in the central shops when this unit and its sister the 1416 were being run and then repainted. I have the beacon(still operational) and the firemans side front number glass in my personal collection. The sound from the 4 stacks over the normal 2 on a GP7/9 was much louder and had a nice thunder to it in run 8. The beacon, firecracker antenna were both removed by a low hanging grain loading hose. I used to have the antenna to, no good for radio use but need on the display shelf. I really miss this shortline and the friendships I made with the employees. Anybody know 1410's location today?? 10/14/2007 12:54:45 AM
E Clark General This this has it's history with operators I guess. Before I worked for the RR, I shot it as CERA 1753 at Valley Jct. in Ohio. Probably 20+ years later I began working for USRAIL on the former GMRY at Hamilton. There we had a poorly running OTSX 70 that finally died when the compressor went out. A little searching on the now dead unit revealed that this unit was exCERA 1753 and BN 1410! It made it's rounds! 8/31/2008 11:17:27 AM
