C&NW GP9 1719 |
Description: |
C&NW GP9 1719 at Proviso, Illinois on February 14, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. There appears to be a bulge of some sort on the short hood. Anyone have an explanation? This unit was equipped with a steam generator, so it is possibly related to that. Number 1719 received a chopped short hood before 1970 (obviously losing the steam generator in the process), was rebuilt and renumbered to 4326 in October 1973, retired December 12, 1988, and sold to Fox River Valley on January 12, 1989. Unusual bell for the C&NW. |
