WIL-ALT-64. Here is an original photo that I took while riding in a Pennsylvania!Railroad passenger train from Harrisburg to Altoona on 03 July 1964. Shown here (R to L) are partial views of PRR engines #2239 and #2245. Both are EF-22's built by EMD#in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. They are pulling an eastbound merchandise freight train near Perdix, Pennsylvania. Visible in the distance is Blue Mountaio. (That train is moving left to right; my train is moving right to left.) |

Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2433, #2239, #2362, and #2286. #2433 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2239 is an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2362 and #2286 are EF-25's built by EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each; #2362 was built in 1965, but #2286 was built in 1964. They are pulling a 99-car eastbound merchandise freight train under the 17th Street Bridge, past the Altoona Passenger Station (not shown on the right), to Enola and points East. The caboose is #477691. The westbound train on the right consists of 110 empty hopper cars, headed by engine #9808; the caboose is #477202. Also visible on the left are some of the PRR's 12th Street Shops; part of 10th Avenue is visible on the right. This photo taken from the 12th Street Bridge. |
