PRR 5803, EP-22, 1960
Title:  PRR 5803, EP-22, 1960
Description:  FSF. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in March of 1960. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5803 and two more "EP" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #5803 is an EP-22 built during July of 1952 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are about to pass under the 4th Street Footbridge with a nine-car passenger train on their way to Harrisburg and points East. Just behind them are the crew-change building and the water tank, both of which saw service during the good ol' days when steam locomotives were marshaled here to push freights up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to the summit at Gallitzin.
