Description:  FM. Here is an image of a photo by Fred McLeod that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 21 October 1950. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5844 and another unit whose number is not recorded. Both are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5844 was built in August of 1947. In this context, this A-B set is pulling a passenger train down the Allegheny Mountains and around the Horseshoe Curve to Altoona and points East. This image comes from a B&W slide set entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania Railroad" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa. William E. Burket Collection.
