Description: |
Everyday. Here is an original 35mm color slide by E. Roy Ward that was taken in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 24 April 1976. Shown here is recently-repainted Conrail engine #1862, an F7A built by GM-EMD for the New York Central Railroad as number "1862" in October of 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. This unit was heavily damaged during the Summer of 1975, but had been returned to service by the time this photo was taken. Along with another GM-EMD product, it's poised to haul a train of newly-repaired freight cars to Altoona and elsewhere. Visible in the distance are Hollidaysburg's historic "Chimney Rocks." |
