PRR 9504, EF-15, 1960 |
Description: |
Oil Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Marysville, Pennsylvania, on 8 October 1960. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9504 and two more "EF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9504 is an EF-15 constructed in September of 1947 and retired in March of 1963 after just 16 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B-B set is hauling a string of empty hoppers out of Enola to Altoona and the mines of Western Pennsylvania. |
