KCS GP40 793
Title:  KCS GP40 793
Description:  Kansas City Southern GP40 793 was parked at WEST YARD, just outside of New Orleans. It had been built in February 1967 as Illinois Central 3057 (EMD 32877) and when it was rebuilt in 1969 after a wreck, EMD added a 3600-gallonn fuel tank, dynamic brakes, nose lights, and an "L" shaped windshield. It was acquired by the KCS in April 1982, after its initial 15-year lease expired, and was sent to Morrison- Knudsen’s BOISE LOCOMOTIVE SHOP in December 1991 as partial payment for upgrading 16 GP40’s into GP40M-2’s 4780-4795. M-K remanufactured it into MARC GP40WH-2 number 54 in May 1994.
