IC 9353 |
Description: |
Looking at this scene, you might well imagine it to be immediately post-merger with the Illinois Central Green Diamond geep leading the GM&O GP38. Only the trailing Paducah re-build suggest that it may be a bit later. It is, in fact, a full seven years and counting since the birth of Illinois Central Gulf as this freight rolls through Freeburg, Illinois the day after Christmas in 1979. |

GMO 750 is the third unit |
Description: |
Gulf, Mobile & Ohio GP38-2 #750 was the first of five ordered by the GM&O (750-754 - GM&O's last ever order for new locmotives), but was delivered after the ICG merger had taken place in August 1972. It never ran on the railroad for which it was painted. Later, after becoming ICG 9570, this unit was wrecked and retired 3/22/1992. |
