Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Chicago, Illinois, in June of 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8670, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the American Locomotive Company during October of 1913 and retired in October of 1953. Partially visible at the left is PRR engine #9877, an EF-15A built by GM-EMD is September of 1952, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in October of 1967. Wilson E. Jones Collection; #3 of 6. |

MDiv. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Cove, Pennsylvania, on 1 January 1955. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9877 and three more units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9877 is an EF-15A built in September of 1952 and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service. This A-B-B-A set is powering an eastbound manifest express. ("Stoneborobranch"; #9 of 56) |
