SIR 460
Title:  SIR 460
Description:  While a part of New York Citys vast MTA transit system, the Staten Island Railway differs from the subway in several ways: The equipment is lettered for the SIR, the trackage is above ground, the SIR uses position signals and it is unconnected to the rest of the system. Opened in 1860 as a part of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, the 14-mile long SIR operates completely within the borough of Staten Island. On May 19th, 2012, a northbound train departs the Tompinksville station for St. George, and the Staten Island Ferry Terminal (which connects to the Battery in Manhattan).
