CB&Q 0-8-0 Class F-1 543
Title:  CB&Q 0-8-0 Class F-1 543
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 0-8-0 Class F-1 543 at Centralia, Illinois on an unknown date in 1952, photograph by C. W. Burns, print by Gordon C. Bassett, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 543 was one of 175 0-8-0's built to USRA specifications, this one by the Brooks Works of Alco in 1919 (c/n 61236), was one of ten USRA 0-8-0's on the CB&Q (#'s 540-549) and was scrapped in August 1956. Note under the rear of the firebox is a box marked FIRE HOSE, not the best choice of locations, in my opinion.

CB&Q 0-8-0 Class F-1 543
Title:  CB&Q 0-8-0 Class F-1 543
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 0-8-0 Class F-1 543 and Waycar 13879 on June 18, 1955, location, and photographer unknown, print by Tom Klinger, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 543 was built to USRA design specifications in 1919 by Brooks (Alco) (c/n 61236) and sold for scrap in August 1956. The location is likely Beardstown, based on the March 1, 1955 CB&Q Locomotive Assignment Sheet. For the record, Waycar 13879 was built by CB&Q's Aurora, Illinois Shops in December, 1917 and burned at East Saint Louis, Illinois on July 31, 1960.
