Title:  CB&Q 2-8-2 Class O-1-A 4976
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 2-8-2 Class O-1-A 4976 around October 5, 1959, location, and photographer unknown, print by Tom Klinger, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 4976 was built by Baldwin in September 1923 (c/n 56972) and sold for scrap in June 1961. According to the CB&Q Locomotive Assignment Sheet (LAS) dated November 1, 1955, this locomotive was assigned to the Beardstown Division. Also noted in the LAS is this locomotive equipped with a L&B Front End, (extended smokebox) indicating that it could burn Lignite or Bituminous coal, which produced more ash. The date of October 5, 1959 is based on the lower chalk mark on the cylinder: 10-5-59.
