Description: |
Dziobko. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken at the Passenger Station in Duncannon, Pennsylvania, on 11 August 1956. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9621 and an "AF" Class B-unit whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9621 was constructed in November of 1951, rated 1,600 horsepower, and retired in January of 1967 after just 16 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B set is pulling a long string of empty hopper cars out of Enola to Altoona and the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania. Note the Engineman scanning his train. ("PrrFan18n") |
