PRR 8872, ES-12, 1964
Title:  PRR 8872, ES-12, 1964
Description:  17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown here is PRR engine #8872, an ES-12 built by EMD in 1951 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. It is on the Hollidaysburg Branch Line and is about to merge with the mainline on its way to the Altoona Yards with a 35-car freight train, mostly cars that have just been built or rebuilt at the PRR's Samuel Rea Shop. Visible at the right is ALTO Tower.
