PRR 8850, AS-16MS, 1960 |
Description: |
4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad locomotive in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during November of 1960. Shown here is PRR engine #8850, an AS-16MS built by the American Locomotive Company in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. Its crew is attending to a mixed-cargo freight train that has just pulled into the Eastbound Receiving Yard. Visible on the right are the largely-unused livestock pens, right next to SOUTH Tower (not shown). Photo taken from the 4th Street Bridge. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.) |
