Top Photo Caption: "Trio of new GF-25's go to work, hauling trainload of iron ore on the main line near Newport, Pa." Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2509 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are GF-25's built by General Electric and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #2509 was constructed in September of 1962. Bottom Right Photo Caption: "At Enola, Pa., Electrician R.M. Herr inserts headlight bulb on an AF-24 locomotive." Partially visible here is PRR engine #2400, an AF-24 built by the American Locomotive Company in October of 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. |

TRB. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Robert R. Malinoski that was taken at the Rockville Bridge near Marysville, Pennsylvania, on 16 March 1963. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2521 and #2400. #2521 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in October of 1962 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2400 is an AF-24 constructed by the American Locomotive Company in September of 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. Tipton. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Tipton, Pennsylvania, on 04 August 1963. Shown here are PRR engines #2400 and #2238. #2400 is an AF-24 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. #2238 is an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They are about to pass over the grade crossing in Tipton with a mixed-cargo freight train on their way to Altoona for a climb up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. |
